How to Create Your Own Cloud Save for Any Video Games – Syncthing Setup Guide / Tutorial

Scenario B video is now released:

Keeping all game saves updated on multiple devices automatically is so great for people who switch gaming devices frequently.

Only scenario A setup is covered in this video. I will make another video for Scenario B if you guys are interested in that.
Scenario A will work with more than 2 devices too but there are high chances to miss updating files due to the complexity of the connection.
I suggest using scenario A with two devices only.

  1. In video:07:14 typo it should be
    systemctl –user stop syncthing
    systemctl –user disable syncthing

    For Disable autostart.

  2. When you got to “motion assitant file” I am lost, where is that file and where would I have gotten it? @11:34

  3. Gonna try this when i get home, but you have just literally saved my Steam deck emu dilemma where i couldnt get my saves over to windows due to how files work on linux. Now i can sync my saves from the deck to my laptop.

    Your amazing, thank you.

  4. After updating my Steam Deck to 3.8.10, I started experiencing an issue where pressing the B button causes the system to enter a strange infinite loading screen. My initial assumption was that Syncthing might be launching before Steam and remaining active in the background, which could be interfering with normal input behavior. However, I’m not certain if that’s actually the cause.
